Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts

Philanthropic Capital Advisors is deeply saddened by the devastation brought upon the people of Haiti by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck near Port-au-Prince on January 12. Haiti is the poorest country in the Americas and has inadequate emergency response infrastructure to respond to the earthquake. Donations and aid will be absolutely essential to the country’s immediate and long-term recovery.

Concerned people who would like to contribute to Haiti relief efforts should do so with care and after thorough due diligence to ensure that funds make it to the right place and into the proper hands. The following is a list of international organizations that have been vetted by Philanthropic Capital Advisors for immediate response donations:

American Jewish World Service
Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund

www.ajws.org
AJWS has created the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund to support its network of grantees as they address the urgent needs of the affected population. Your donation will go directly to:
• Support search and rescue efforts by community volunteers
• Provide food and shelter for survivors
• Provide emergency health services and education to help reduce the second wave of casualties due to wounds, contamination from corpses and human waste
• Clear roadways to facilitate rescue and distribution of emergency supplies
• Provide emergency psychosocial support to survivors
• Fund humanitarian aid being sent from the Haitian-Dominican community in the Dominican Republic that includes two mobile clinics, medical supplies, donations and volunteers

Joint Distribution Committee
Haiti Earthquake Disaster Response

JDC is currently accepting donations to support both immediate relief—as well as long-term assistance to help the Haitian people rebuild their lives. JDC is conducting a full and rapid assessment of the situation on the ground, while reaching out to its network of partners to determine critical next steps based on immediate needs. These efforts are part of JDC’s International Development Program (IDP), which provides immediate relief and long-term assistance to victims of natural and man-made disasters.

American Red Cross
Haiti Relief and Development Fund

www.redcross.org
The American Red Cross is working with its partners in the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network, including the Haitian Red Cross, and other partners to assist those affected by this disaster. Assistance provided by the American Red Cross includes deploying personnel, sending relief supplies, and providing financial resources.

American Jewish Committee
Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund

www.ajc.org
Tens of thousands have been killed, countless others are in desperate need of medical care and basic supplies to survive, and millions are homeless following the earthquake which has devastated Haiti. AJC and Israeli relief organization IsraAID are continuing their long-standing partnership in bringing aid and comfort to the victims of humanitarian disasters.
