What is Philanthropy?

Philanthropy is the act of donating money to support a socially beneficial cause, with a defined objective and no financial or material reward to the donor. In a more general sense, philanthropy may encompass any altruistic activity (e.g. goods, services, time and/or effort) intended to promote good, improve human quality of life or affect positive change in the world.

Smart philanthropy is the exercise of giving away money effectively - a way to focus on high impact areas where you get more than what you give, not just in terms of the dollar amount, but of positive changes made. Today, we are helping individual donors/philantrophists substantially change the way that social and human issues are addressed by applying 21st century business best practices and results-oriented goals to philanthropic investment.

Given the uncertain economic climate around the world, efficient and performance-driven giving is critically necessary now more than ever. Non-profits, NGOs, and other organizations are looking for new types of philanthropic sponsors and partners, as traditional sources of funding begin to dry up. Smaller and smaller contribution amounts are now making a bigger difference, as smart philanthropists utilize the business principles from their own companies to ensure that their donations make the most impact.
